There is a site for parents to go to and check out more about the testing. It's called parent webinar@select.com. This is a source that was recommended to us and we hope that you will find it beneficial in helping your student prepare.
Please keep in mind that this isn't just another standardized test. Your score can determine how much in scholarships, if any, you qualify for. For example, at Union College, a SAT score of 1530 will qualify you for a 9-semester total of $13,750. However, a score 1980 or above will qualify you for a 9-semester total of $27,500. (We have information from the majority of the Adventist colleges available in the library if you want to see what other schools offer.)
As you can see, there's a significant difference! If your are interested in getting some help to prepare your student, we recommend the "Princeton" brand (these books have sample tests in them that are helpful in preparing your student) that you can find at Barnes and Noble or Borders. Most importantly though, if you're purchasing one of these books, make sure you pick up the most recent version as the SAT does change from year to year.
Also, there are private tutors that can help as well. The school recommends Sue Hamilton and she charges $35.00 an hour. With the difference in scholarship money available for a higher score, it could be a great investment!
